QINGDAO BAY
Qingdao is located at the southern tip of the Shandong Peninsula facing Jiaozhou Bay.
Human settlement begins 6,000 years ago.The evolution was constant under differents dystanies before and after unifying China in 221 BC and results in a rich cultural heritage ; in particular, it ‘s the birthplace of Taoism (original name: Qingtao).
Qingdao municipality is divided into 7 urban districts and five county-level cities under its administration (Laixi, Pingdu, Jimo, Jiaozhu, Qingdao, Jiaonan). It belongs now more than 7 millions inhabitants with importants economics issues ; for example, Qingdao city currently develops six industrial clusters for home appliances, electronic information, petrochemicals, automobile, shipbuilding and port. On international issues, Qingdao had already established relationships with many cities ; one of them is San Francisco, member of the club. Qingdao Bay was selectionned for the 2008 Olympic Games (Olympic Regatta).
