GIROLATA & PORTO GULF

The Gulf of Porto-Girolata and the reserve of Scandola are located on the Western coast of Corsica; their surface of 120 km2 is divided into terrestrial environment (78) and marine environment (42).

The littoral is shredded, with ilôts, caves and high rocks with broad inaccessible which shelters a fauna and a marine flora very rich; it constitutes a remarkable example of maquis where are maintained traditional activities (agriculture, élévage).

The villages of Porto and Girolata are both dominated by a square tower génoise (XVIè).
