The first Sea Festival of Spain
In 2005 was organized the 1st Festival del Mar of Santander. It is the first sea festival to take place in Spain.
It born to commemorate the city’s anniversary (250th Anniversary of the granting of city status to Santander, (1755, King Fernando VI), but also to be the first of a regular cycle of festivals in the future. All fleets will be present: The Spanish Navy, fishing, sports boats and Tall Ships.
Tall sailing ships from the International Fleet will take part in cruises from different ports to Santander.
The Cruises leg that begins the Festival. It re-create in Santander the indelible memory of the 2002 Cutty Sark Regatta and 2005 Festival del Mar de Santander.

The Festival will be opened by a cruise from Amsterdam to Santander; a voyage which will leave an indelible memory in those who take part in this trip to the past, in the celebration of our sea history.
