Environment 2007 Award: Club Allaooleg Baie des Chaleurs: The Environment 2007 Award was given to Club Allaooleg Baie des Chaleurs for its decisive actions against Belledune Incinerator.
Local people, major interveners and Baie des Chaleurs Club worked together to stop Belledune Incinerator of Bennett Company in going ahead with burning ‘junk’ in the bay as stated 5 years ago.
This is an unbelievable victory… resulting from the locals’ vigilance for a sustainable environment, in which our Youth Clubs have collaborated.
Many outstanding people were involved in mobilizing the people from both side of the bay; however, it is appropriate to highlight the outstanding work of Mr. Luc Potvin from Quebec, Mr, Florien Levesque from New-Brunswick and also, from Baie des Chaleurs Club, Mr. Richard Gingras.
To date, the result of this fight is convincing and we are proud in having actively contributed to increase this beautiful bay’s sustainable development base.
