BAY OF SOMME

The bay of Somme is the largest estuary of the north of France (72 km2) ; it holds its name of the river "Somme".

The significant amplitude of its tides (10 m) contributes to its progressive vegetalisation estimated at a minimum de16 ha per year.It is a rich natural environment (marsh, dunes, estran,..) where many activities are exerted:¶, breeding (sheep the pre one salted), fishing with foot (salicornes, hulls, moulds) or embarked (gray shrimps, sail needles), drive out with, tourism waterfowl of nature.

The ornithological Park of Marquenterre, in one of the vastest dunaires sets of Western Europe, is a privileged site of observation, in particular for the migratory birds and also a colony of seals marine calves.
