A Club Mission goes to the Bay of Pemba (Mozambique)
28 May 2008
Michelle Pauly, the world club’s executive secretary, together with Joaquim Ferreira and Antonio Capoulas were welcomed by the Pemba authorities on a visit for assessment purposes and advice.
“Mama Michelle”, as she was immediately named by the inhabitants of this magnificent bay, gave useful advice in relation to this protected site.
The local authorities, aware of the value of this coastal area and its great beauty, do not intend to develop mass tourism, but are envisaging a gentler approach to development (with very strict standards for environmental protection).
